[Breaking News] First Prize goes to the KIT Formula Student Team “Grandelfino”

KIT’s formula student project team “Grandelfino” won first place for overall performance in the “14th Student Formula Japan Competition,” held at Ogasayama Sports Park (ECOPA), September 6th – 10th, 2016.

Ongoing since 2003, this competition is open to groups of self-motivated students who wish to cultivate various skills involved with monozukuri (manufacturing technology), and as training for those who will one day play critical roles in the future of the automotive industry. The teams are judged on two event categories: the static event (cost, presentation, and design) and the dynamic event (This includes acceleration, skid pad control, maneuverability, handling and efficiency.) Teams compete with each other on the comprehensive monozukuri of their vehicles which are conceptualized, designed, and manufactured by students.

KIT was provisionally positioned in third place until the last day, when they achieved a brilliantly high score in the final endurance event, contributing to the team’s victory on the overall scores.
